Alanis Morissette wants to show you her humps

Friday, July 31st, 2009

So you take Black Eyed Peas “My Humps” song and have Alanis Morissette sing it. Great idea! No, No Timmy it is not.

First off the video is about as painful to watch as it is watching your pecker get hit by a 4×4. Now if you just listen to the “sound” and ignore the words being used it is actually pleasant. I actually like Alanis Morissette’s whiny high voice. I am not going to be so bold as to say she demonstrates a lot of vocal variety, but I do enjoy it. Now if you do listen to the words you will just feel like you were dropped on your damn head! The lyrics are angry yet Alanis sounds like she is sad or that her grandma just died. It is a very messed up mix! For funny I give it a yes. Do I want it to be done again, most certainly no! Fregie or the Black Eyed Peas and Alanis should never duet!

It also occurred to me that Mrs. Morissette is not a real pretty lady. I mean I would not run from her in a dimly lit alley but you get the idea.

Digging CocoRosie

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

This week it just seems like I can not get enough of CocoRosie. They have some crazy unique music. I really like the below song “Japan”. It is hard to say what their style is. Each album is a little different and each song for that matter seems like a new audio experiment.

CocoRosie is two sisters, Bianca and Sierra, who are based in France but are native Americans born in Iowa and Hawaii. Their web site is here. Enjoy the below song. The video sucks but the song is good, odd but good.

Cool Pirates of the Caribbean mix

But why is all the rum gone?

This is a pretty good remix song using video parts from Pirates of the Caribbean.

This weeks musical obsession - Joan Jett

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

While looking at the HP touch computers online this week I stumbled upon Joan Jett. She sings the “Touch” song they use in the commercial and I had to know who sang that. So she is my musical obsession all week long. Who knows it could last longer! I kind of hope it does.

In this video below Joan Jett is preforming “Fetish” and she is like 50! She looks about 25. I am pretty sure this woman does not age. OK there are some pictures where she looks a little older. She is still damn hot and one hell of a rocker!

So the rumors say she is a lesbian. Who even cares. She can rock with the best of them and I am pretty sure all 75 pounds of her even at age 50 could kick my ass without even breaking a sweat. If the gods did indeed come down and had sex with mortals, Joan Jett is what you would get!! Hercules can go fly a kite.

Gummibär - Like audio crack

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

I was listening to some techno crap with the Crazy Frog last night. I don’t know why but this audio mush just draws me in like a moth to a flame. Crazy Frog had a version of a Gummy Bear song that I found overly appealing. Having time on my hands and not much sense I looked into it and found out the original was done by Gummibär. I liked the original more than the Crazy frog remake so I of course had to download it. Yes I illegally used LimeWire. Well this new song crawled into my head took a large shit and made a nest! Soon I was in a cold sweat and needed more. I went to ITunes and bought Gummibär’s whole album. Now the iPod is hot running Gummibär nonstop while I kindly plea to the battery gods to give me 30 more seconds. My soul slowly fades away while my ears bleed me out like a holiday hog.

So it turns out Crazy Frog is my pot habit that lead me to the harder drug Gummibär! Damn! I guess it could be worse, I could have become hooked on The New Kids of the Blocks new album!! WTF… the world does not need this but that is a whole other post. One more slash! Have they not noticed… they are not “kids” anymore.

So allow me to be your dealer for the day. I bring you Gummibär.

MySpace music

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

I found a list of artists to watch for in 2008. They of course are MySpace artists. So below I have incorporated the ones I like as well as some others that I enjoy.

The Bird and the Bee - Their website is thebirdandthebee.com. I love their sound. It is not earth rocking but it is a good upbeat lifting good mood sound.

Bree Sharp - Her website is breesharp.com. Well she is hot. That seems to cement in a lot of stardom and success unfortunately. Her voice is nothing new but it is very pleasant and her songs are fun.

Terami Hirsch - Her web site is terami.com. I really like this. It has a unique and distinctive sound. This is the kind of music I like when I just want to veg and contemplate the meaning of life. there is a lot of depth and variation to the music that keeps you listening and digging deeper into the songs. My favorite so far is little light.

Tay Zonday - His website is tayzonday.com. I have mentioned Tay before and I can not wait to see where he goes. His voice is very uniqu and I thin once he finds his nitch he is going to do some impressive things. His music is currently free to download.

Elizabeth and the Catapult - Their website is elizabethandthecatapult.com. Again this is nothing that pushes the boundaries but it is has a good soothing sound.

Jon Lajoie - His website is jonlajoie.com. OK so he is not a MySpace star but YouTube is close enough and his music is good and damn funny so check it out.

Fredo Viola - His web site is fredoviola.com. This is another one of my absolute favorites. Very sad and heart felt sound but a great listen. “Sad Song” will make your eyes wet and is very good. “Robinson Crusoe” is also another of my favorite songs by Fredo.

So some of these have already been in my blog but I like them and want to mention them again so just deal with it.

Tay Zonday is making some dough

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Earlier in my blog I posted about Tay Zonday a musically inclined internet artist I like. Well he has another video out. It is not a great song, actually just a silly remix of his Chocolate Rain song. It is however real damn funny and it is good to see Tay making some green backs from Dr. Pepper. I assume he is getting some green backs. If not he is not playing the game right. Since he is giving his music away for free and providing so much YouTube entertainment someone better be giving him some cash!

The Daft Punk fans strike again

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Earlier in my blog I had a post about a cool Daft Punk fan video that displayed some real talent… and a lot of spare time. Now that idea has evolved and another Daft Punk fan is doing a similar video.

Posted below is a fan video of two lasses with the Daft Punk song lyrics written on their body and they dance/perform the song. It starts off rather slow but works up to a frothing entertaining frenzy. I think the tin foil box heads of the ladies could use some more thought. All in all it is a pretty well done performance. Well as far as internet performances go. I think I still prefer the original hand version but there is certainly some talent displayed. What I really am missing is the outtakes where the two girls knock each other out as they frantically swing their body parts around.

Tay Zonday has a voice that will blow you away

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Wow! I could ramble on and on about how blown away I am with Tay Zonday but it is just best if you check him out for yourself. I will however ramble a little.

He is only 25 yet he has a rich creamy voice like no other. Not only does he have the gift of a magic voice but the lad can play piano as well! I don’t do music so I can’t tell actual talent from general skill. I just know what I like. However, it looks to me like his ivory tapping is pretty decent. Not that anyone makes keyboards with ivory anymore but you get the point. His voice however is the thing that for me merits him worth noting and worthy of great praise.

He seems to have a genuine healthy glow as well. He just looks content and like an all around good chap. Not that a few YouTube videos gives you any perspective into a person but you can certainly spot the ass bags in a hurry. Oh and he is from Minnesota so you have to give him a pat on the back for that!

Now the shocker!! All the songs he performs in the videos he has on YouTube are free to download. That is right Timmy he is just like Santa, bringing gifts to all the good little boys and girls. Well except he is not over weight and he does not have any facial hair. I can only speculate that he does not have reindeer or a furry red suit. Watch the video posted below and if his talent raises an eyebrow be sure to check out Tay’s YouTube page so you can enjoy all the talent he has leaked out for our enjoyment. He also does voice over work. Tay’s personal web site also has all his songs available for a listen without the video.

Great stuff! The video I posted is not his best video but the song is good and it shows him in a more “lad next door way”. I actually had to watch several videos before I was ready to even believe this voice was coming from him. I also really enjoy the song “Internet Dream”.

And the Spice Girls still suck

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Well the Spice Girls are apparently back. Who gives a rats ass is my first thought. But then I remember that they are decent looking lasses so I give them a go. You can give them a go as well by watching the video posted below. Maybe you will think different than I, but guess what… they suck.

Now they did have a few decent songs back in the day so I can not totally pass them off as a complete shit. When I say a few I really mean very few. The part I really liked (back in the day) was the energy they displayed and the outfits they wore. Oh, and yes they were fun to look at. Now not only does the music suck but they just look civil and mature… who the hell wants that? They have like 18 albums according to their web site! Never would have guessed? Who knows maybe you will be their next biggest fan. As for me I will keep my eye on Pink or Fergie. Not that either of them is quite as much eye candy as five bouncy spice girls but they have attitude and a sharp edge that is entertaining. Not to mention they do not seem to have gas trapped between their ears.

I can’t read music - Can you help?

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Music notes having funI have never been able to read music. Course I have never really tired. I have too many other hobbies anyway. I sure as hell do not need an instrument as well.

But the point at hand is this sheet of music I found. Can anyone play this for me? Click the little image to see a larger version, it is very funny. I found the original here. Also scaryideas.com is a very good site. It has a lot of great ads that are fun to look at.

Dear internet blog today I discovered Tom Waits

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Tom WaitsDear fancy internet blog,

I just don’t know what is wrong with me, my nipples hurt and I just today discovered the greatness of Tom Waits. I was cleaning my toes with a pocket knife, scratching my ass while listening to the iPod when the sound track for Shrek came on. I nearly cut my little pinky toe off trying to touch the iPod so I could see who was playing. It’s OK though because I think I could wear cuter shoes if I did not have a pinky toe. Pinky toes are so ugly anyway… yucky! Anyway the song that came on was “Little Drop of Poison” and I just loved it so much. I finished picking my toes and then went to the computer to see what iTunes had to offer in the way of Tom Waits. Then I did a Google search for him. Then I took a nap with the new face cream I bought at Walmart a dreamed about his greatness.

Whoa I blacked out what happen? Did I mention Tom Waits? He is freaking awesome. I love his gravely music. I will toss him in the same bucket as Leonard Cohen (ref 2) and Bob Dylan (ref 2). You know the one where I keep the jazzy, folksy, sing song, give you a smile odd ball music. I guess some Johnny Cash (ref 2) goes in that bucket as well. Anyway Tom Waits has been in movies and has like 20 albums out. Although I have seen him I never knew who he was. Now that I know what he is all about I remember all the places I have seen him and all the times I have enjoyed his work. His music is spectacular. Find it, listen to it then buy it. I am a big proponent of paying for the music I listen to. Not that I have paid for every song I own but at least 98% of it. For example the other day I wanted some Fat Boys and the song “Rapping Ron” and could not find it anywhere. I did however find a few Fat Boys classics that I did not pay for. Where was I? Right! Tom Waits… here is a Video of Chocolate Jesus and his web site that seems rather dead?? My current favorite song (course it is not really a song) is “What’s He Building?”

He is the bestest ever!
