Notes for Elmer Alphonse Wegscheid
The Celebration of Life for Elmer Alphonse Wegscheid will be on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Karvonen's Celebration of Life Center in Wadena, MN. Prayer service will be at 4:00 p.m. Elmer passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in the care of The Elders Home and Lakeland Hospice along with family present.
He was born to Joseph and Margaret (Peters) Wegscheid on September 1, 1933. Elmer attended country school and then served in the Korean War from 1953-1955.
Elmer was united to Joyce Kovar in June, 1956. They made their home in the Wadena, MN area. Elmer was the owner of Elmer Wegscheid Htg. for 30 years until retirement. They traveled the United States, Germany, and Alaska on vacation.
Elmer will be missed by his wife, Joyce; children: Becky (Vern) Matthiesen, Ed (Dawn), Rick, and Joel Wegscheid, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Sisters Gloria (Butch) Waln, and Jeannie Brever, and in-laws Arnold Theisen, Marylou and Diana Wegscheid.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Margaret, sisters Lorraine and Wilbert Tellers, Loretta Theisen, brothers Johnny, Norman and Dorothy, Wilbur, and Gibb, and other nieces and nephews.
Elmer has chosen to donate his body to science and research at the University of MN.
