Obituary notes for Marvin J Wegscheid
The Mass of Christian Burial for Marvin Joseph Wegscheid of Bluffton will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton with Fr. Aaron Kuhn officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary service at 5:00 pm and Parish Prayers at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 12:30 PM until the time of mass at the church. Marv passed away at the age of 82 years on Friday, November 28, 2014 at his home in Bluffton surrounded by his family and under the gentle care of Legacy Home and Hospice Services of Wadena.

Marv was born on April 24, 1932 to Alphonse and Theresa Wegscheid in their home at Bluffton. He was a member of the Wadena High School class of 1950.

Marv was united in marriage with Mary Andrie on July 28, 1952 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena. They made their home in Bluffton where they raised their family, served the community, and will be remembered as the friendly owners of the Bluffton Hardware store from 1954 until their retirement in 2000.

Marv was a lifelong resident of Bluffton. He was a charter member of the Bluffton Lions, a trustee and member of the choir at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, a member of the Bluffton City Council as well as the Bluffton Senior Citizens, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Aid. He served for many years as Bluffton’s Fire Chief and also played on the Bluffton baseball team. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. Indoors, he could be found bowling or playing cards. He and Mary enjoyed traveling and time spent at the lake cabin. They especially enjoyed the time spent with their family gathered together.

Marv was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary, on November 7, 2013; parents Alphonse and Theresa; daughter Jan Eckhoff; granddaughter Christine Sweere; brother Jerome and sister Delores Sazama; son-in-law Walter Paczynski; several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law; along with numerous relatives. 

Marv is survived by his sons Ron (Nan) of Bluffton, Dan (Nadine) of Bluffton and Gary (Melissa) of New York Mills; daughters Linda (Gerry) Imdieke of New York Mills, Deb (Dan) Sweere of Bluffton, Kathryn (Greg Ouellette) Wegscheid of Venice (FL), and Sandy (Jeff) Frost of New York Mills; 25 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren; brothers Vince of Wadena and Bob (Barb) of Mankato; sister-in-law Nellie Wegscheid of Wadena; son-in-law Don Eckhoff of Henning; along with numerous nieces & nephews and other relatives. 

Honorary pallbearers are Marv's granddaughters and all of his great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are his grandsons Bryan Imdieke, Jason Lehmkuhl, Kyle Lehmkuhl, Scott Sweere, Marc Sweere, Matt Sweere, Josh Sweere, Aaron Wegscheid, Tyler Wegscheid, Ryan Wegscheid, Jacob Wegscheid, Jared Wegscheid, Brendan Frost, Tanner Wegscheid, and Jordan Wegscheid.

Interment is in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery at Bluffton.

Mary Wegscheid, 79, of Bluffton, passed away on Nov. 7, at Perham Living in Perham. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Nov. 11 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Burial was in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery.

Mary K. Andrie was born Nov. 11, 1933, to Leo and Marie (Goeden) Andrie in Wadena, Minn.

Mary Andrie and Marvin Wegscheid were united in marriage on July 28, 1952, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena. They made their home in Bluffton where they raised their family, served the community and will be remembered as the friendly owners of the Bluffton Hardware store. While raising their large family and assisting customers, Mary found time to enjoy snowmobiling, playing cards, bowling, singing and traveling. She especially treasured weekends at the lake and time spent with her family. She was a member of Christian Mothers, Bluffton Lions, Bluffton Senior Citizens and the St. John's Church choir. Mary's strong faith was lovingly instilled in her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Marie; daughter, Jan Eckhoff; brothers, Phillip and Leo Jr.; sister, Phyllis Vorderbruggen; granddaughter, Christine Sweere; son-in-law, Walt Paczynski; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and other numerous relatives.

Mary is survived by her husband, Marv of Bluffton; sons, Ron (Nan) of Bluffton, Dan (Nadine) of Bluffton and Gary (Melissa) of New York Mills; daughters, Linda (Gerry) Imdieke of New York Mills, Deb (Dan) Sweere of Bluffton, Kathryn (Greg Ouellette) Wegscheid of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Sandy (Jeff) Frost of New York Mills; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dick Andrie of St. Cloud and John (Lucy) of Wadena; sisters, Audrey Breid of Wadena and Joanie (Joe) Weller of Henning, Minn.; son-in-law, Don Eckhoff; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Bryan Imdieke, Jason Lehmkuhl, Marc Sweere, Aaron Wegscheid, Ryan Wegscheid, Brendan Frost and Tanner Wegscheid. Honorary pallbearers were Mary's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
