Kaleene Marie (Wegscheid) Willard, 67, of Lake Havasu City and Crescent City, Calif. passed Tuesday, Nov. 3, with her husband Tom and many family and dear friends at her side.
Many of Kaleene’s loved ones predeceased her, including her parents, Edmund F. and Anne Wegscheid of Hutchinson, Minn., her brother Stan of Labelle, Fla., Tom’s parents, Elden and Wanda Willard and Tom’s brother, Ward Willard of Hutchinson.
Kaleene was born in Watertown, Minn., Feb. 13, 1948 as ninth of the nine children of Ed and Anne Wegscheid.
She is survived by sisters, Cordy Lewandoski of Litchfield, Minn., and Sharon Dominik of Lawrence, Kan., as well as brothers, Harlan (JoAnn) of Lester Prairie, Minn., Virgil (Virginia) of Hutchinson, Minn., Edmund L. (Betty) of Coal Valley, Ill., Mark (Ella) of Kress, Texas, Darril (Mary Kowalski) of Mendota Heights, Minn., and Russ (Mona) Willard of Hutchinson, Minn., as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Kaleene attended Winsted, Minn. Holy Trinity into the fifth grade, and then completed schooling through the tenth grade at Waseca, Minn. Sacred Heart, before graduating from Hutchinson, Minn., high school in 1966.
She completed two years at St. Catherine’s College in St. Paul, Minn., a year at the University of Freiburg, Germany, and graduated from Long Beach State, California with her bachelor’s degree in German in 1970. Then, in 1991, Kaleene was awarded her master’s degree in psychology from St. Mary’s College of Moraga, Calif.
Kaleene married Tom Willard, Oct. 23, 1971 in Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada.
She was an accomplished artist and licensed counselor specializing in children’s play therapy.
Memorials in Kaleene’s honor are intended to support efforts to combat childhood pancreatic cancer.
A private Celebration of Life honored Kaleene and celebrated her life Nov. 7 in Hutchinson, Minn.
