Arnold Joseph Weller, 77, of New York Mills, passed away Dec. 2, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Bluffton to John and Scholastica (Wegscheid) Weller. He grew up on the family farm in Bluffton. He attended school in rural Bluffton. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1951-54. On June 13, 1955, he married Marjorie Kowalski at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls. They made their home in New York Mills. He farmed and drove milk truck for Bluffton Creamery for many years. He enjoyed hunting, the adventures of fishing trips, music and dancing. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports and family events.
Funeral mass was held Wednesday, Dec. 5, with the Rev. Don Wagner officiating. The pallbearers were Mike Weller, Chad Weller, David Weller, Darin Johnson, Shawn Meyer, Eric Weller, Nick Weller and Jeff Guck. The honorary pallbearers were Richard and Sharon Ericksrud, Al and Jeannie Roggenkamp, Gary and Lorretta Buckmeier, Ralph and Dot Schwartz, Gilbert and Diane Wegscheid, Ross and Lisa Meech, Donald Dumont and Danny Volkman. Military honors were provided by the Charles D. Center V.F.W. Post 3289 of New York Mills. He was laid to rest in St. John Cemetery in Bluffton. Arrangements were provided by the Karvonen and Son Funeral Home in New York Mills.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marjorie, of New York Mills; his children, Wayne and Deb of New York Mills, Doug and Janeen of New York Mills, Patty of St. Cloud, Georgia of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mary and Bruce of New York Mills, Josie and LeRoy of New York Mills, Linda and Dan of Belgrade, Terry and Jan of Perham, Leo and Tracy of New York Mills, Cindy and Kelly of Fosston, Eddie of New York Mills, Connie and Ernie of New York Mills; 30 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Donald Weller of Wadena, Bernice and Bill Bretz of Osakis, Kenneth and Dorthy Weller of Cross Lake, Arlene Kato of Great Falls, Isabelle Langer of Bluffton, Johanna and Mark Kato of Havre, Mont., Joe and Joanie Weller of Henning, Judy and Collin McLeod of Aberdeen, S.D.; sisters-in-law, Eileen Weller of Merced, Calif., Deloris and Mel Duenow of Fergus Falls, Ardy and Arland Wahl of Fergus Falls; many other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by a child, Eugene Arnold Weller; his parents, John and Scholastica Weller; brother, Duane Weller; brothers-in-law, Duane Kowalski, Robert Kowalski, Leo Andrie, George Kato and Rein Langer; and a nephew and a niece.
