Donald Anthony Walz, 56, of Port Orford, Ore. and formerly of the area, died March 27, 2006, of a heart attack at his home.

He was born July 2, 1949, to Anton and Mabel (Hochstein) Walz in Bluffton. He married Faye Fuder on Sept. 11, 1971, in Breckenridge. He served in Vietnam and received the Bronze Medal of Honor. He enjoyed the ocean and the coast and loved the nature and outdoors.

A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. April 30 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Bluffton. Burial was in the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Roseburg, Ore.

Survivors include his daughter, Kristi (Chris) Pederson of Aurora, Colo.; four sisters, Jeanette (Robert) Scheidecker of Hawley, Vera (Vincent) Wegscheid of Wadena, Diana Lord of St. Louis Park and Karen Bogott of Medford, Ore.; two brothers, Gerald (Judith) of Henderson, Nev., and Leroy of Spanaway, Wash.; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lawrence.
