Another Pioneer Settler Called
The community was greatly shocked on Thursday last to learn of the sudden death of one of the few remaining old settlers of this neighborhood, Mr. George Seifert, of the town of Edna, aged 79 years. Deceased suffered a paralytic stroke only three days before his final demise, and while little hopes were held out for his recovery, still the loved ones held onto that little hope, and they were heart-broken when the angel of death finally called to claim its own. George Seifert was born in Germany and moved to this country with his parents when only three years old. The parents settled in Ohio, and twenty years later he was married to Miss Elizabeth Fiedler. They remained in Ohio for three years more and then came west , Settling in Stearns county, where they resided for a few years. Forty-one years ago they moved to this place, settling on a homestead in the town of Edna, four miles west of Perham, where he has resided every since. About twenty - eight years ago, the good wife and mother was called to the great beyond, leaving eight healthy children, who have become honored residents of the community where they live. The children in order of their birth, are: Mrs. John Fehr, George, Martin, Mrs. Maggie Hassler, Mrs. Joe Keidel, Mrs. Adam Silbernagle, Mrs. John Kramer and John Seifert, all of whom are residents of this vicinity with the exception of George and Martin, who are living in Missoula, Mont. Twenty-seven years ago Mr. Seifert was again married, this time to Mrs. Keidel, and she left to mourn, with the children, the loss of a loving husband and father. Deceased was one of the most active and popular men in this community, with an affectionate disposition, honest as the day is long, a good neighbor and kind friend, ever ready to help the sick and distressed. No worthy person was ever turned away from his home hungry of despondent. His advice was much sought after in all the affairs of life, and he was never known to take advantage of anyone. The funeral was held from the St. Joe Catholic church, of which he was a devout member, Monday morning, and the last remains were tenderly laid away by the side of his loved one that passed beyond so many years ago. The funeral was one of the largest ever held from the church, friends being present from many miles to pay their respects to their departed friend. The widow and children wish the Bulletin to extend their heart felt thanks to the many friends who so kindly assisted them in their time of bereavement.

Death of A Pioneer.
George Seifert, an esteemed pioneer resident of this locality, passed away Friday morning at his home in St. Joe, after a brief illness, the result of a stroke of apoplexy. He was stricken while walking around outside Tuesday afternoon and was assisted to the house by his wife. She then went to call the neighbors but when she return Mr. Seifert was gone. After a search, he was discovered by J. Sterling lying helpless in the garden. A physician was summoned but it was impossible to save his life. One side was completely paralyzed and he was speechless, but he appeared to recognize those about him a part of the time.
Deceased was born in Germany on July 17,1830, and came to America with his parents at the age of three years. The family settled at Massillon, Ohio, where he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Elizabeth Fiedler in 1852. Ten children were born of this union, eight of whom still survive. They are: George and Martin Seifert of Missoula, Mont., Mrs. John Fehr, Mrs. Margaret Hassler, Mrs. Joseph Keidel, Mrs. Adam Silbernagle, Mrs. Jacob Kraemer and John Seifert, who reside in this vicinity.
Mr. Seifert moved to Minnesota in 1855 and settled in Stearns county, where he lived for 16 years and then came to this county and located on the farm which has since been his home. His first wife died in 1876. In 1882 he was married to Mrs. Margaret Keidel, who still survives him. In addition to his widow and eight children, he leaves 59 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren, making a total of 99 living descendents. This is a record which is probably unequalled in this part of the state.
During his long residence in this locality deceased made a host of friends who esteemed him for his rugged honesty, hospitality and square dealing, and his passing away is sincerely regretted by all who knew him. He is gone, but not forgotten. His memory will be kindly cherished by those he left behind.
The funeral took place from St. Joseph's church Monday morning, and was attended by a very large concourse of mourning friends and relatives. Services were conducted by Rev. V. Weigand, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near the church.
