Ruby Steeke, 79, of Frazee, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 in Tamarac Place Assisted Living, Pelican Rapids, under the care of Lakeland Hospice.
Ruby Ida Krueger was born to William and Martha (Bahls) Krueger June 6, 1928 in Perham. She lived near Frazee where she was raised and attended country school. She married Walter Steeke Jan. 12, 1949 in Frazee. She worked for Swift Turkey Plant in Frazee and Detroit Lakes until her retirement. In 1967, they moved into Frazee. He died July 11, 1994. She entered the Tamarac Place Assisted Living in 2006.
She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, crocheting, feeding and watching birds, traveling and knitting.
Survivors include: three sons, Calvin (Jo Ann) Steeke, Glen Steeke and Gene (Diane) Steeke, all Frazee; a daughter, Vickie (Mark) Putney, Fargo; a brother, Wilbert (Imogene), Sealy, Texas; five sisters, Eleanor Berndt, Lidgerwood, N.D., Clara Johnson, Pelican Rapids, Gladys Soland, Ashby, Noreen Huwe, Detroit Lakes, and Marcella (Emil) Huwe, Franklin; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Bemice Wegscheid; a grandson, Shawn; her parents; two brothers, Willard and Wilfred; and a sister, Ann.
Funeral: Thursday, April 17 at 1 p.m. in Furey Funeral Home, Frazee. Visitation: Wednesday, April 16 from 5-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial: Lakeside Cemeterv, Frazee.
